The Namaqualand in South Africa with a size of 48,000km2 is barren and until Springbok, a town that has also transformed itself quite nicely, is only hilly terrain. The sun shines feebly

out of the clear blue sky and the wind blows cold.  Near the Citrustales dark grey clouds appear on the horizon.  The orange trees are laden with half yellow fruit. After a last look at the Cedar Mountains the grey wall closes above us and it almost simultaneously becomes night.  South Africa is a land that in itself is worth a three-month stay.  Not all at once, but a bit at a time.  The nice cities, the wonderful worthwhile game parks, the varied landscapes, the Drakens Mountains, the small and large Karoou, the Garden Route the vineyards and not least the Cape Region, the Tafelberg, and the wonderful empty beaches. South Africa has a size of 1,119,566km2 and 23,385,645 inhabitants plus the independent Homelands with 1,221,037km2 where 6,900,000 people live. The night has caught up to us and after several km it begins to drizzle.  Finally, after a two-hour drive in the dark the lights of Cape Town appear.  The city and its surroundings are a wonderful destination to flee the German winters.  We are very fortunate and thankful that we have arrived here safe and sound.  The 100th night of this trip is spent under a solid roof. The wind whips the rain against the glass and bends the palms back and forth. The winter here is quite unpleasant.
